How to read the punctuation and browser formatting
Quotation marks surround names and text values. A colon separates a name from its value. Commas separate entries. Braces { } group named values into a record; square brackets [ ] hold a list.
Your browser may offer “pretty print,” which adds indentation and line breaks. Those spaces make the structure easier to read; they do not change the information in the file. The format is described in the JSON format standardJavaScript Object Notation: a text format for exchanging named values, lists and records between systems.
